The Final Countdown

It WAS Junior Year, back when I had long hair Even after asking other seniors, I was still scared With no new friends, would I make any? Would anyone even want to be my study buddy? I found that I had stronger opinions that I knew how to express TOK helped me realize this I found that I liked learning about the body Biology helped me realize I want to be a nurse I found that books can be as eye opening as an ethical movie English helped me realize this I found that music is a lot more than an expression Chorus helped me realize this I found that I don't have to be the best to try my best Church helped me realize this I found that I still hate history History helped me realize this (duh) I found that I cannot physically fall asleep in class Late nights taught me this I found that I only sometimes enjoy solving equations Math taught me this I found that the environment of the classroom affects how teacher

Witty Whitman

It's hard to believe that so many honored beautiful pieces of poetry were made from the same man as the author of this notebook. It is hard to read, unorganized, mysterious, confusing...but... it is real. I think the purpose of publicizing his notebook was to show how human he is. He often perceived himself as above others and wrote that way (saying that he is the cosmos), but this evidence levels his playing field with the rest of society. From his notebook, I think he was very open and observational to different random concepts in the world including religion, brochures, symbolism, and tragedy (like war). I think another observation that's crucial is the formate of his writing. It does not start in a certain spot and does not have a definitive ending. His pages look as though they are still in the process of thinking, and it is not stated if they are a final copy, or if he would've wanted to work on it more. The messiness of his writing shows the messiness of his thoug

THE DEEPEST POST YET

The "American Dream" in my mind often involves fatty foods, a job in Hollywood, and a small waist. This is not what I strive to be, but it is the stereotypical ideal that some people base their lives on. I will say though, that in the past I have strived to be the skinny Victoria Secret model only because other girls were obsessed (big mistake). I think this is both unrealistic and demonetizes the meaning of our lives. If all of us had that "American Dream" come true, then no one would be living in it... "And when everyones super... no one will be" -The Incredibles ... The dream that I have as an American is to live my life woven in the hands of God. I want to go through conflict, I do NOT want to be perfect. If one does not earn struggles in their lives, how can one enjoy the simplistic joys of living. Of course we shall strive to be perfect, but humans have sin so it is inevitable, which means we need to be equip for those times in our lives. My Amer

Here is a picture of the passage I had which includes the planning to the right of the text and between the lines:  Heyoooo! So I initially did a voice recording and it was amazing and had a thorough analysis... but I could not upload it on her no matter how hard I tried so I tried it again on this website that could only do around 5 min. at a time so here are the three links to my IOC practice:  #1       https://www.speakpipe.com/voice-recorder/msg/y1bkpbayn1axc56k  #2       https://www.speakpipe.com/voice-recorder/msg/4n486qfii1rkxonk  #3       https://www.speakpipe.com/voice-recorder/msg/9c2th17vneq8lnbq Analysis on my analysis on The Handmaids Tale: A: Knowledge and Understanding of the text or extract- 9 I know that I understood the text, but I could have referenced it more during my analysis of the different quotes to further show my understanding. B:  Understanding of the use and effects of literary devices- 8 I definitely explained h

Of Course nothing MATTRESS when you're SLEEPING on life

This Blog post will be analyzing the translations below of the first line in the  Kafka's Metamorphosis  book .  The original sentence of the first line is, " Als Gregor Samsa eines Morgens aus unruhigen Träumen erwachte, fand er sich in seinem Bett zu einem ungeheuren Ungeziefer verwandelt." #1: Gregory Samsa woke from uneasy dreams one morning to find himself changed into a giant bug. The first detail I notice about this line is that the diction is very simple and straight forward which makes the quote easy to understand, but is not a good first impression for the author. It also does not give enough explanation or detail to form images in the reader's mind. The only detailed adjectives given are "giant" and "uneasy". There is also a lot of time that would have had to pass between the transformation of a human to a large bug which is not explained in this first sentence which therefore means that this process may be explained throughou

Never Let Me Go ^2

The book Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro is discussed in the blog below!! Continue reading to be informed, and if you need a place to write comments, I got you COVERed. Initially, my eye was drawn to the top right cover on Genesky's post of the boat because it had specifically shown a picture a particularly memorable scene in the book. I thought that it was cool that all the covers are differently designed because it shows how much room the book has for interpretation and design. The two covers below are the books that I intend to compare and contrast in the space below. :) These two images are unique because I feel that the one on the right focuses on a certain scene. When I initially saw the right cover, I thought it was representing the scene where Kathy is listening to the tape and dancing around. Even though Kathy may not have been twirling as fast in the books description, this is the image that I pictured when reading the book. The cover on the left on the
