This Blog post will be analyzing the translations below of the first line in the Kafka's Metamorphosis book . The original sentence of the first line is, " Als Gregor Samsa eines Morgens aus unruhigen Träumen erwachte, fand er sich in seinem Bett zu einem ungeheuren Ungeziefer verwandelt." #1: Gregory Samsa woke from uneasy dreams one morning to find himself changed into a giant bug. The first detail I notice about this line is that the diction is very simple and straight forward which makes the quote easy to understand, but is not a good first impression for the author. It also does not give enough explanation or detail to form images in the reader's mind. The only detailed adjectives given are "giant" and "uneasy". There is also a lot of time that would have had to pass between the transformation of a human to a large bug which is not explained in this first sentence which therefore means that this process may be explained thr...
The Need For Greed Citation: “Greed' The Latest Ad of Our 'Seven Sins' Series for Porche.” Google.com , i.pinimg.com/originals/78/59/9d/78599d67e4c424b65b22ebc37b3006d7.jpg. Denotative Examination: After the initial viewing of the ad, I examined that there were multiple hooks on a wall with car keys hanging from all of them except for one. The keys have the Porche brand symbol on each of them. Connotative Examination: Next I thought about the deeper meaning behind this ad. I realized that the person who owned all of these keys must be very wealthy because Porches cost a lot of money. I also thought of the last missing key as two things. The owner of those keys could be saving up to get the last key, or the owner of the keys could be out on the road driving the Porche, showing that audience would want to drive them a lot too. Intended Audience: The viewers would most likely be people of the higher class who spend their money on big investme...
For my analysis on The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson , I will be analyzing the quotes below and creating my own poems. The first quote is from chapter 1, where the text starts: He is not easy to describe... , ending with ...and yet I really can name nothing out of the way. This quote is describing Mr. Hyde. The second quote is from chapter 3, where the text starts: To this rule ..., ending with This is a matter I thought we had agreed to drop. This quote describes Dr. Jekyll. The two quotes are alike in the use of adjectives to describe Mr. Utterson's feelings towards Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Stevenson also uses alliteration when describing Mr. Hyde, "...something displeasing, something downright detestable" (Stevenson 5). He describes Mr. Hyde here as disgraceful and unpleasant. In the second quote, Dr. Jekyll is described as, "...a large, well-made, smooth faced man of fifty, with something of a stylish cast perhaps, b...
